I know this is making a point but isn't the "past performance" line a regulatory requirement, warning consumers not to overly rely on previous returns to predict future returns?
The UK chancellor promised on tv, fund investors a £16,000 increase in their pension pots by allowing fund mgrs to invest in start ups, those famously low risk investments. A private company making those return claims would be prosecuted. A nice juicy 2% fee too. I wonder who he's looking out for…..
This was after almost destroying pension funds with the truss budget, when the bank of England had to put up tens of billions to save them. Just some material for you.
Not a good informational video. In the US (and I imagine equivalent exists in other capitalist economy countries), this is a legal requirement much like the Surgeon General warning on tobacco and alcohol. These guys could be rockstar investors with the best ratings in the industry over the last 5 years, but next quarter or two they crap the bed. Can't sue em for crapping the bed unless you can find intent to commit crimes. Thus, the warning. Do your homework before investing.
Chris needs his own segment or show somewhere. He tells it like it is as most of us go throught he system, and do not have a clue how to make the money, have tax to debit benefits and the rest!
I never forget my first day in comercial FX. every one was packing on, to the trip to RPA for month or so to shoot commercial. Why i ask why RPA i get "becouse we never bean there but we tell client that its perfect location"
Your stuff is normally spot on but this is making me second guess your industry knowldge. The reason finance adverts can’t have past performance is because some companies have used past POSITIVE performance to market their potential future upside. In America at least, this is misleading advertising, and why it is illegal to market past performance without that disclaimer. Fun fact, a lot of people lost money in the tech bubble and Great Recession because of funds using past performance to basically lure in investors.

It's impossible to distinguish between Finance ads and The Onion. It's impossible to tell if they are serious or it's a parody

You guys have a great chemistry together
This actually freaking genius.
100% accurate, sadly
lol Australian super companies in a nutshell
My understanding is that legally you can't advertise in a way that suggests past performance is an indicator of future earnings
And this is why advertising shoild be banned
These videos are SO spot on!

These are my new favourite thing
Past performance is actually NOY a good indicator for investment. It is a good indicator with insurance though.
Funnily enough 😀
I worked with the M&A bankers and this guy looks like 100% typical investment banker/lawyer director, late VP 🙂
I mean there’s gonna be dancing…
I work in this industry and it is very true
Asking sincerely: is there any rebuttal to this? (I think not).
It’s all about the fees.
